A semiconductor equipment company consulted us to help design and build a very precise copper coil. We listed the objectives and developed tools and gauges to manufacture the coil.

We selected 250” diameter copper refrigeration tubing because it was inexpensive and readily available, and we designed and machined special copper terminals. We outsources a custom sheet metal mounting bracket and we silver soldered the pieces together using a custom made fixture to insure correct positioning of all components.

After we had built coils that satisfied the needs of the customer, we then worked with several electroplaters before selecting the best vendor to coat the entire assembly with silver. The coil had an inside diameter of approximately 10 inches and an inductor length of over 100 inches. The tolerances were less than 0.10” on the coil length and diameter. We used a standard engine lathe to wind the coils, and we machined the copper terminals on a CNC mill. We have produced several thousand of these coils over the last 5 years, and the customer is still ordering these assemblies to this day.
